Katie McGarry
Young Adult Contemporary

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.

Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

I absolutely LOVED this book. Like LOVED LOVED. Like I carried the book around EVERYWHERE I went in case I had a moment spare. Like I sighed heavily, deeply in love with Noah. From the swoony kiss on the cover to the swoony romance inside, this was such an amazing read. I'm usually a paranormal/historical reader, but Pushing The Limits has completely sold me on contemporary romance.

I really enjoyed the way the author wrote this story. Instead of being inside the mind of just Echo, she also gave me a glimpse into Noah's and it was fascinating. I'm really becoming a HUGE fan of the hero's perspective, and it gave deeper emotion and a strong dynamics to the storyline. I felt I was able to connect with both the main characters and it increased the entire experience. I laughed, I swooned, I cried - exactly what I want from a good book.

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Noah. I mean he just reached out of the book and kidnapped my heart. It was impossible not to love him, to want him to win the girl. I loved that he was rough and tough. I loved that he was soft when it came to Echo. I LOVED that he had NO problem touching her. He didn't care about asking questions, about gossip. He cared and loved her.

I loved the issues the author addressed in Pushing The Limits. She wasn't afraid to dark and gritty ... to be real. It wasn't all light and fluffy - Echo and Noah faced very real situations and hurts. It made it an intense and heart felt read, one of my all time favorites.

I recommend this book to everyone and anyone. It's a book that will suck you in and keep you hostage. It's also a book that will stay with you, and Noah ... you will fall for him HARD. Enjoy!!
Raine Miller
Erotic Historical Romance

Self-serving libertine Jeremy Greymont likes his sex on the rough side and his
women anonymous. Perfectly content milling along through life on an existence of
courtesans and fine Scotch whisky, Jeremy has a naughty past and his own demons
to contend with, but he's run out of time with his grandfather regardless.
Jeremy needs an heir—posthaste. The lovely Georgina seems like the perfect
answer to his predicament and intrigues him like no woman ever before. Jeremy
can’t wait to get started on the baby-making and is even willing to tone down
his preference for the wild romps he’s always enjoyed. There’s always time to
teach her about that later, right? But Georgina's demons trump Jeremy's in so
many ways. A brutal assault has left her damaged and vowing she can be wife to
no man—not even Jeremy Greymont. What is a libertine to do?

Raine Miller has done it again! She's written a book that sent me into a full
blown swoon and left me DESPERATE for more. I loved her first book, His Perfect
Passion, and thought Darius was amazing (I believe my words were liquid
chocolate) so I knew I could expect another wonderful read. Well, it should've
come with a warning label - Jeremy blew me away. He had me completely hooked,
and all I wanted to do was to rip him from the pages to make him mine!

I
love the way Raine tells a story. She gathers you in, and introduces you to
characters you instantly fall for. It's easy to find that needed connection,
where you're eager to find out what lies in store for them. You laugh, you cry,
and you want to beat the living crap out of anyone who dares hurt or try to come
between the hero and heroine. I loved becoming invested in the story, making it
extremely hard to put down. You forsake eating, sleeping, interacting with the
world!

Georgina was a heroine after my own heart. She went through such a
horrible ordeal, but emerged on the other side stronger. I wanted to protect
her, I wanted to scream as the story unfolded, but she was no weak, soft spined
woman. She hung on, and watching her journey was incredible.

Jeremy ...
ahhhh, Jeremy. I've said it before. I LOVE the flawed hero. The more he has the
better, and I loved watching him fall for Georgina. He had me shaking my head,
wondering if he'd ever get it. He had me swooning over how gentle he was with
her. But most of all, I adored his protective streak, how he was prepared to
battle the Devil if he needed. He made mistakes, but together, him and Georgina
worked through them. Sooooo much to say about this man *sighs* You don't want to
miss meeting him!

Okay, I'm going to admit, as love as I loved Jeremy and
Georgina, I HATED ... I LOATHED the villian of this story, but OMGSH ... it made
for amazing reading. Raine can write an incredible romance, and she can write
evil so delicious, there were times I expected a MWAHAHAHAHAHA to come flying
over the pages. Anyone else go to the live pantomine shows where the bad guy
shows up, and the crowd screams "LOOK!!!!"? That's what I was doing! It made the
read more intense, and I loved it!

This is definitely a book to read and
devour. Mark my words, Raine Miller knows how to deliver a story that gives you
the complete experience, and leaves you BEGGING for more. She's has amazing
talent, and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next. Bring on the
swoon!!
J.R. Ward
Paranormal Romance

Ever since the death of his shellan, Tohrment is a heartbroken shadow of the vampire leader he once was. Brought back to the Brotherhood by a self-serving fallen angel, he fights again with ruthless vengeance- and is unprepared for a new tragedy. Seeing his beloved in dreams—trapped in a cold, desolate netherworld—he turns to the angel to save his former mate, only to despair at the path he himself must take to set her free. As war with the lessers rages, and a new clan of vampires vies for the Blind King’s throne, Tohr struggles between an unforgettable past, and a future that he doesn’t know he can live with… but can’t seem to turn away from.

This was such a highly anticipated book for me. I worried that it would kinda fall flat like Lover Unleashed did so I wanted this to be EPIC. Following through the series, each of the characters has found a way to endear themselves to me, but Tohr ... poor Tohr .... he needed some closure. I was eager to see which characters would fill in the story around him and I am excited to say that I LOVED this book! Even though there were moments were I felt the author had lost her mind, this was a book that gripped me and didn't let go. It gave me the exact kind of experience I look for when reading ~ one filled with emotions. I felt it all through Lover Reborn ~ anger, pride, swoon, tears and laughter.

One thing I enjoyed most about this story was how the author wasn't afraid to make her characters real. There were a few times I wanted to jump into the book and beat Tohr ... beat Qhuinn as well but I could understand why they may have felt they needed to act the way they did. It's always a shock when you see the hero say or do things that make your eyes widen and you think "Oh crap he so didn't go there ... did he?" and this happened with Tohr. Man, he said some things that made me cringe, but grief can make a jerk out of anyone. I waited patiently through the book for him to finally soften and realize that it's okay to love again and that it was time to move on. I will say this though - as much as I loved following his journey to his HEA with Autumn, what would've made it over the top is if we saw more of his "AWWWWWW" moment. You know, where he realized just how much Autumn meant to him. We saw a full book of his angst and refusal to give in, and sometimes I feel a little robbed that I didn't get more of the "Sigh ... he finally got it." moment - the click that said he redeemed his actions. It was still amazing to read though.

I absolutely ADORED Qhuinn in this book. Can I just say how EPIC I thought his part was, how completely bad ass he is and how proud I was to see him risk his life for the King. He may be young, and h may be all over the place with his feelings for Blay, but he isn't afraid to put himself on the line for what he believes in. I loved seeing a more mature Qhuinn and I totally squeed when I heard the next book is his and Blays. Hopefully now the two can finally come together and not have all their angst spread out over books. I'll admit to wanting to throw my kindle across the room at the twist at the end of the book. I knew there was a possibility going in, but my heart kept screaming "NOOOOOOOOOOO." I'm still not sure what's going to happen, but after hearing JR Ward talk about how she envisions the next book playing out, I went from frustrated to "Awwwww" to tears. I can't wait for Qhuinn to get everything he deserves and more and loved reading him in this book.

There were a lot of great moments in Lover Reborn but NOTHING and I mean NOTHING could surpass the beauty of the ending chapters. I seriously felt as though my heart had been ripped from my chest as I sobbed. The Fading Ceremony was beautifully written and full of gut wrenching emotion for me. It started as the Brothers came in with a gift for Tohr and it didn't let go as I read through the ritual. It was powerful and left me a little speechless. The twist at the end had me reeling but it was perfect! This was definitely one of my favorite scenes from the entire series because I could imagine myself there watching, experiencing it alongside the Brothers and their shellans. It still chokes me up just thinking about it.

Overall, this was a great addition to the series and there's a lot of set up for future books. The Band of Bastards were huge in this book, and the introduction of a new character has me wondering what part he'll play. I can't wait to see what's going to happen next because the author has created an intriguing world. This is definitely a book I'll reread because I know there is just so much to absorb. Don't hesitate in grabbing a copy for yourself and devouring it! Happy reading!!
YA Contemporary Romance

Chase Walker used to be a good kid--charming, athletic, and with a bright future ahead, but that was before travesty struck his life, sinking him into deep despair. Caught up in a world of drugs and alcohol, he doesn't notice time slipping away until he's arrested for underage drinking one night.

Fed up with watching her son destroy his life, Chase's mom relocates him to live in a small ranching community with his ex-military grandfather. Chase is far from happy about the situation until he meets, Nikki, the cute cheerleader who won't give football players like him the time of day.

Chase enjoys a good challenge though and sets out to claim Nikki for his own. He soon discovers she's more than a pretty face--she's a balm to his troubled spirit also. But when tragedy strikes Nikki's life too, suddenly Chase finds himself put to the ultimate test. Can he trust Nikki, and all that she's taught him? Will it be enough?

I don't even know where to begin in reviewing this book. I've been a huge fan of Lacey Weatherford's from the moment I read her amazing Of Witches & Warlocks series, and when she announced she was releasing a new book, I was excited to see what she'd do. Chasing Nikki, her first YA contemporary romance story, is NOTHING short of a masterpiece!

I'm the kind of reader who wants to be swept up into a story and connect with the characters. I want to FEEL something and close the book with the experience that I'd been on a journey. Holy cow! This book had me right from the beginning and dragged my tender beating heart right through to the stunning end. I felt every emotion possible - pain and understanding with Chase as he struggled to keep his life together, laughter over the antics he pulled to impress the girl, swooning over the tender moments, and anguish for the trials he had to face. This book is the TOTAL PACKAGE ... you honestly don't get any better than this because it is beautifully written with the kind of detail that makes you BELIEVE in the characters. You want to pull Chase and Nikki from the books and hug them.

I could gush about this book for hours, but I'll sum up everything you need to know about this book right here - do whatever you need to do so you can sit UNINTERRUPTED and devour this book. Chase Walker is incredible. This story is AMAZING, POWERFUL, and something that will tug so hard on your heartstrings, you will walk away CHANGED for the better. You OWE it to yourself to read this book.
Elizabeth Hoyt
Historical Romance

SEVEN NIGHTS OF SIN As the madam of Aphrodite's Grotto, the most infamous brothel in London, Coral Smythe knows everything possible about men's needs and desires. Yet she's never experienced the love of a single man-not even that of Captain Isaac Wargate whose hawk-like eyes stare at her with both condemnation...and lust.

SEVEN NIGHTS OF ECSTASY Captain Wargate heartily disapproves of the sensuous madam who always wears a golden mask. She lures his officers from both his ship and their duty. But when Coral herself is offered up as the prize in a game of chance, Wargate impulsively enters...and wins.

SEVEN NIGHTS OF LOVE Now the puritanical navy captain has just seven nights to learn everything he can about the mysterious madam and what she knows of a man's desires. But when Coral is threatened by the new owner of Aphrodite's Grotto, will Wargate take a chance on the woman beneath the mask...and on love?

This was EXACTLY what I needed ~ something swoony enough to appease the romantic in me, and short enough that I could enjoy it all in one seating. I've never read anything by this author before, but Elizabeth Hoyt came highly recommended by a good friend, and needing something to pull me out a reading funk ... this was it. Even though it is a short story, it provided a story that pulled me in straight away. How can you not want to find out about a puritanical naval captain and the madame of the most popular brothel in London? Two opposites brought together because they were meant to be together. It set off all my romance junkie signals, and I LOVED IT.

Coral, through circumstances, first finding herself a whore, then an owner of Aphrodite's Grotto and then an unwilling partner with someone without scruples is drawn to the man who refuses to use the services her employees provide. Issac Wargate, is everything the debaunchers of the brothel are not, and he intrigues her. Through a game of chance where she is offered up as a heady prize, she is stunned to see Isaac enter ... no more surprised than Issac. He only comes to the brothel to ensure his men are kept safe, the idea of being with a whore no where enticing. But all it takes is the tremble of Coral's body, and the look of panic when her body is offered up for a week of sensual pleasure and he acts without thinking to save her. What follows is swoony.

I loved these characters. Two people from different pasts, living different lifestyles and they find love. They had to learn to lower guards long enough to see beyond experience, and take risks in letting their hearts become involved. Issac is like no other man Coral has ever known, and it's a struggle for her because all the tricks of her trade don't work. Isaac sees beyond the status of the whore - strips Coral down and sees her. There's no fooling with him, and I loved how brave Coral was in allowing that. I can't imagine how difficult it was, but I would've expected her to be jaded, but she was still able to maintain some semblance of who she truly was, and hold onto it.

I HEART ISAAC. I don't know if it's because of what I'd been reading earlier, but he reminded me of a historical version of a Dom. He had seven days where he could have wrapped himself up in Coral sexually, slaking his lust before heading back out to sea, but he saw HER. He wanted more, and he was firm in how he got it. He did simple things to help her relax, to see there's more to entertaining a man than sexual acts. He talked with her, wanted her real name, and my FAVORITE scene was when they finally did make love. Coral spent a night showing him what she thought it meant, and he spent the next night showing how he felt it was. I admit, I SWOONED. He was tender, gentle and I fell in love with him.

Don't ever let the size of a book sway you. I'm so glad I purchased this book, even knowing it was a short story, because it was an amazing read. I would've missed out on spending seven nights with two great characters, and finding a new author to love. I'll definitely be buying more of Elizabeth Hoyt's stories. Happy reading!
YA Paranormal Romance

Jill Jekel has always obeyed her parents rules; especially the one about never opening the mysterious, old box in her father's office. But when her dad is murdered, and her college savings disappear, she's tempted to peek inside, as the contents might be the key to a lucrative chemistry scholarship.

To improve her odds, Jill enlists the help of gorgeous, brooding Tristen Hyde, who has his own dark secrets locked away. As the team of Jekel and Hyde, they recreate experiments based on the classic novel, hoping not only to win a prize, but to save Tristen's sanity. Maybe his life. But Jill's accidental taste of a formula unleashes her darkest nature and compels her to risk everything, even Tristen's love just for the thrill of being . . . bad.

Ever since reading the authors other YA title Jessica's Guide To Dating On The Darkside, I've wanted to read this. I LOVED the other books - devoured it - so when I had a chance to get this on sale at a book store, I jumped at it.. While it's very different from what I expected, and a lot lighter on the romance than what I wanted, it was still an entertaining book and one I enjoyed.

It took the story of Jekel and Hyde, and gave it a good twist. Two teenagers are brought together by family legacies, both needing the other to help them get what they need. Jill is recovering from the loss of her father and when she finds out there's no money to go to college, she decides to enter a chemistry contest where as scholarship is offered to the winner. She finally convinced Tristen to help her, making a bargain to reenact secret experiments performed by her father, and the implications are enormous. There's a beast that lives within Tristen - a bloodthirsty monster, and driven by the fear of a nightmare becoming reality, he pins all his hopes on the success of their findings. All while falling for Jill. It's a great way to add a different spin on an old story, and I loved it.

I enjoyed the characters although, as a romance junkie, I wish there was more emphasis on the romance. There was a point where I wondered whether I wanted to keep reading because the story did center more around who they were are the Jekel and Hyde team, but it was intriguing enough for me to put my romance needs aside. Tristen was a great character - broody and dangerous, all the right elements to make a good bad boy, I just wished he kissed Jill more! There was enough "angst" to keep the story moving forward and having me wanting to see what happened to them both, and I felt for them. They were handed down incredible legacies which connected them, and it was a fun experience to watch how they handled everything.

All in all, it was a great book. I read it all in one night and the intrigue had me turning the pages as I approached the end. If you're wanting something that's heavy on the romance, this doesn't have it but it is a worth the time. A great addition to your personal library. Happy reading!!
#6 in the Masters of Shadowlands series
Erotic Romance - bdsm

Determined to find the human traffickers preying on Shadowlands’ submissives, Master Raoul gets himself invited to a small slave auction. Once informed, the FBI orders him to reject the limited choices so the slavers will invite him to the big auction. To Raoul’s shock, one of the slaves is the kidnapped friend of a Shadowlands sub. She has a scarred body…and an unbroken spirit. He can’t leave her behind. Ruining the FBI’s carefully laid plans, he buys her.

Kimberly’s freedom has come at a devastating price: the other women are still slaves. An FBI raid is their only hope for rescue. Desperate to help the Feds locate the big auction, she agrees to pose as Master Raoul’s slave. Wearing a collar again is terrifying, but under the powerful dominant’s care, Kim starts to heal and then to blossom. This is what she’s been drawn to—and fled from—her entire life.

She escaped the slavers who captured her body—can she escape the master who’s captured her heart?

This author NEVER ceases to amaze and dazzle me. As soon as I heard this book had been released, I purchased it and put everything else down. Cherise is the one who introduced me to reading about the bdsm lifestyle, and not only did she intrigue me with the combining of intense emotions and sensuality, but she also had me look closer at a genre I never would've explored. To Command And Collar is BY FAR my favorite of the series. It blows the rest of the books COMPLETELY out of the water, which says a lot because the entire series is PHENOMENAL.

Where to even begin? There was such a depth of emotion with this story that it was virtually impossible for me not to connect with Raoul and Kimberley. I was able to forget what was happening around me - the world could've ended and Iwouldn't have known. I love reading stories where my body reacts alongside the characters - crying, laughing, anger, hurt. There were times I held my breath because despite everything that was happening, two people were able to overcome horrible things and find love. YES, there is love and romance and swoon in this story. Don't let any preconceived ideas about bdsm fool you. This book had EVERYTHING.

Out of all the books, I love Master Raoul and Kimberley the most. Not only because they have incredible chemistry, but because what they have to go through to be together. Sex slave auctions are heinous, and when Master R infiltrates one, bringing Kimberley home ... it sets up for a powerful example of just how amazing a strong, protective Dom can be. If you thought bdsm was all controlling males and whimpering females .. think again. Master R truly knows what Kimberley needed and helped her overcome the horror of her experiences. He knew her limits, and helped build back her confidence. Gosh, the man honestly made me swoon so hard and I'm not afraid to admit, I would've given anything to be Kimberley in some of the scenes. There was so much going on, and I never wanted the story to end. I loved seeing Kimberley open up and let down her defenses. Loved seeing her figure out what she truly wanted, and the way she submitted herself to Master R's care. I loved watching them both battle demons, and rise above it. Gush ... gush ... gush ... ABSOLUTELY amazing!!

If you're new to reading bdsm and are curious, Cherise Sinclair is definitely the author to introduce you to the lifestyle. She tells an amazing story, explaining things along the way where it makes sense. You can see why it appeals to some, why it would fulfill their needs. Bdsm is erotic, but the way she describes the relationship between Dom/sub, it's not hard to see it's also incredible sensual and emotion based. This is definitely a great series to break stereotypes, and if you have an open mind - I 100% recommend you give it a try. BEST series EVER!
Chloe Neill
Urban Fantasy

Clouds are brewing over Cadogan House, and recently turned vampire Merit can't tell if this is the darkness before the dawn or the calm before the storm. With the city itself in turmoil over paranormals and the state threatening to pass a paranormal registration act, times haven't been this precarious for vampires since they came out of the closet. If only they could lay low for a bit, and let the mortals calm down.

That's when the waters of Lake Michigan suddenly turn pitch black-and things really start getting ugly.

Chicago's mayor insists it's nothing to worry about, but Merit knows only the darkest magic could have woven a spell powerful enough to change the very fabric of nature. She'll have to turn to friends old and new to find out who's behind this, and stop them before it's too late for vampires and humans alike

Hands up those who lost the will to read, sobbed uncontrollably, and wandered around feeling lost and depressed after the Drink Deep's ending? If you did, you weren't alone because I seriously fell apart. My poor hubby had no idea what was happening as I came out crying over Ethan. Broke my heart and I vowed to hunt done the author to make it right, if she didn't fix it in Hard Bitten.

What a book! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, with the constant thought of "Please tell me it's going to be okay!" I loved the storyline of this book, showing Merit to be a take charge person, inside of hiding away from her duty, depressed. I know that's what I would be tempted to do because losing love is never an easy thing. I really enjoyed seeing her defending the House again, even though there were definitely moments of vulnerability I LOVED! I teared up when she came home and crawled into Ethan's bed.
This book left me guessing. I wondered who was behind it all, and I HATED that I was right. I had the niggly feeling for most of the book, and I kept telling myself, "Surely the author wouldn't." I loved seeing different mythical creatures, their involvement in the craziness that was happening, and yes ... I found myself being intrigued by Jonah. He'd definitely treat Merit right, but he was no Ethan. I'm 100% Team Ethan and he's the reason why I RACED through the book.

I was completely satisfied with this book. There was NOTHING I didn't like - yep, even the ending. Even though it was bittersweet when everything was revealed, it made for an amazing read. Even though a lot of Hard Bitten was action - Merit trying to uncover the truth, the SWOON it did have was WELL WORTH THE WAIT. Just saying ... Gosh, I could've read those parts over and over and over again!

This is definitely one of my favorite series, one I've continue to reread. I'm impatient now for the next book because .... EVERYTHING IS RIGHT IN MY WORLD!! Hahaha how's that for being spoilerish in code! Thanks for a great read, Chloe. Highly recommend this series!! I HEART ETHAN!!
My only complaint of this book is when you have a hero who is this HOT, he should be stamped across every single page of the book! I lived for the moments that he and Nora were together. Their chemistry dripped off the pages for me and totally upped the swoon factor in this installment.

I also liked Nora a lot better in this book as her "condition" helped her to not appear so irritating as she did in the last book. It seemed she trusted Patch more this time around, despite not knowing what was going on, and it made for a much nicer flowing story, I felt.

I thought this was the last book in the series, so I'm bummed that I have to wait again for more, but that also means more Patch so I guess that makes it a "win" situation.

I have one word of advice to Nora ... when a mega hot fallen angel says he wants to carry you off to his cave, your answer should ALWAYS be "Yes, please!!!" LOL

Will they be united-or torn apart forever? Readers will finally discover the truth in this anxiously awaited conclusion!

My Thoughts:

Let me start out by saying this series has been really hit and miss for me. There were books that I LOVED and couldn’t wait to start reading the next one only to find that one to be greatly irritating. Honestly the only reason I stayed with it was because I bought all the available books at once and I felt obligated to read them then. This wasn’t all bad, as I said earlier I really enjoyed some of the books. I finally purchased the last book in this series so I could see how everything tied up.

I started the book and found myself frustrated right away, so I set it back on my shelf for several weeks. Finally one day I felt in the mood to give it a try again and I set it next to bed so I could read it over the next few nights when I was done with my work.

In past books of the series I was often frustrated with Ever and the things she did. I think there were even times I just wanted to smack her upside the head. That was not the case with this book. I found Ever to have her head squarely on her shoulders and thinking clearly, which was refreshing.

However, her love interest, Damon, became the village idiot. He constantly whined about everything, never wanted to do anything Ever said, and sulked an pouted when he didn’t get his way. I found it disturbing that a guy who has literally been around forever couldn’t find any reason to look or trust in other alternatives. Thankfully Ever doesn’t allow him to interfere with her destiny and sets out to complete it.

The only thing that saved Damon for me was a section of the book that sends them back to relive past lives. Damon was young, and charming in this part and I as the reader found it easy to love him. Just when he was almost completely redeemed in my eyes, he blew it again.

I almost found myself hoping that somehow Ever would fall for Jude who has been her constant companion and self-proclaimed protector through all the generations of time. He’s the one who truly deserved her.

The story was well written and easy to drop right back into. The descriptions painted a good picture and the pacing stayed a decent level, wrapping up the stories of all the characters through the series, which I really liked.

This series is very innovative in its storyline, taking you places that are different than most paranormal stories out there. I appreciate the author being original in that respect and I do think it’s a series many will enjoy. It’s good, just not my personal favorite.

I would rate this book a 3.75.

Yep, I went into this book hearing how amazing it was so I was somewhat prepared but seriously, the very INSTANT I met Darius Rourke, the sexy hero .... I was a COMPLETE goner!! This man felt like he was dipped in decadent chocolate ... I was dipped in chocolate or heck, we both were because he was absolutely SINFUL!! He was caloric!! He was swoonworthy!! He was masterful!! He was panty melting material!! It didn't take long for me to fall under his spell to where I was ready to follow any of his commands. In fact had you watched me reading, you would've heard me whispering giddily "Darius, tell me to say it. I will you know... I love you." This is the EXACT reason why I love reading romance and it just got better and better.

I loved the mixture of historical romance and bdsm. Now before you go thinking of lords and ladies wiellding floggers and chains, it's not like that. This was really light bdsm - think robe sashes to restrain and blind folds. The focus was more on the need to submit and dominant... to provide the needs of the other so that both were happy and fulfilled. I thought Raine did an outstanding job with it, the things Darius would say to Marianne making me tingle. I loved the way the author explained it and the limits she set within the story. It made for interesting dynamics between the couple, especially when it came to sharing feelings of love.

I adored this couple. Can you imagine how incredible it would be to find out the man you marry has loved you for what seems like your entire life? You have been watched over and protected. Things you said in passing carefully and lovingly remembered. It was enough to make me swoon to know Darius had always loved Marianne, he was just bidding his time before stepping in and making her his. The opening scenes were enough to make me feel like his gaze was on me, it was so easy to fall into the story and join the characters.

I loved the conflict and inner turmoil I found in His Perfect Passion. It reached in and grabbed hold of my heart, laughing and crying for both of them. Marianna has this terrible secret, one she hopes Darius will never find out because even though it takes her a while, she actually loves him and doesn't want to lose him. To know his wife is harboring something, something he can't fix and wipe away the sadness from her eyes, it hurts Darius. Oh gosh, it was all just so beautiful because all they needed to do is confide in one another but hey, what would the story be without the extra angst to make you really love the characters? The storyline was PERFECT for me as a romance junkie. It left me breathless and excited for more.

I would recommend this book to everyone without hesitation. Please don't let the term "bdsm" make you overlook this wonderful romance story. Love comes in all forms ... what's important is the journey and this is one I am so VERY grateful I didn't miss. Happy reading everyone!!
Mini Review:

I'm telling you, Ghost Of A Chance completely sucked me and held my heart. You have two amazing characters - Remy, who is this tortured individual whose stuck living the consequences of his actions. He's had time to realize the errors of his ways and is desperate to find the woman who'll help him. But not just desperate for her ... desperate for love. Even though he's filled with self doubt, he goes on a date with Susannah and is completely blown away. For a ghost, Remy is incredibly sexy and sincere and I held my breath through most of the book, begging that he get his happily ever after. I feel in love with Susannah the moment I met her and I whispered "She's the one." I loved the way they interacted and that she gave Remy a chance.

If I could sum Ghost Of A Chance up into one sentence it would be this - Deena Remiel has created a love story with a swoonworthy balance of tenderness, sensuality, hopeful longing and desperate desire, a romance you're not going to want to put down until you've savored every last word and emotion.

And because I just can't stop thinking about it:

I guess I'm a swoon-a-holic where when I'm in need, I reach back to those stories where I know I'm guaranteed a good read. Ghost Of A Chance has become one of those for me and I love the way I can slip back into the story and get the fix of romance I crave. Being the tortured hero junkie that I am, I just love Remy and that feeling I know we all get when we desperately want the HEA. Two people with so much to give but will it happen??

I really loved the intimate scenes in this book, one in particular because honestly, how does a ghost touch a woman? I loved the uniqueness of how Remy brings pleasure to Susannah and it had me closing my eyes, imaging it as well. It was erotic and sensual and absolutely PERFECT! I'll admit it made my heart melt and left me with a huge smile on my face.

I haven't read many of the 1NS series but I love the whole idea of capturing this moment between to hopeful want to be lovers and exploring it. It's a short story so it gives you the chance to fully dive in without the worry of interruptions pulling you away. You can fully immerse yourself from beginning to end and if you're like me, that's just what you need at the end of a long day or a weekend afternoon. Deena did a wonderful job making me care about Remy and Susannah and I know I won't be the only one sighing over this book. Definitely something to read and devour!
J.R. Ward
Paranormal Romance

Now, as the vampire warriors defend their race against their slayers, one male's loyalty to the Brotherhood will be tested-and his dangerous mixed blood revealed...
Caldwell, New York, has long been the battleground for the vampires and their enemies, the Lessening Society. It's also where Rehvenge has staked out his turf as a drug lord and owner of a notorious night club that caters to the rich and heavily armed. His shadowy reputation is exactly why he's approached to kill Wrath, the Blind King and leader of the Brotherhood.

Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood-even though his sister is married to a member, for he harbors a deadly secret that could make him a huge liability in their war against the lessers. As plots within and outside of the Brotherhood threaten to reveal the truth about Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in his darkening world, Ehlena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him-and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction.

O.M.G.S.H - I am on tortured overload. LOVED this book! Is it just me but as the series progresses, each Brother is more tortured and delicious than the previous one. This was actually the first book I ever read by the author, years ago, but time has definitely been kind because I couldn 't get enough of this!

Where to even started.... Rehvenge. That man made my heart bleed. Talk about first impressions. He would be the man I'd cross the street and hide behind something because I'd be scared. Scared he'd eat me and scared he'd see me drooling! I can only imagine the kind of power that drips off him and how deadly he'd feel. But all it takes is one woman... the right woman and even the hardest of men crumble. Rehvenge had so many flaws, so many reasons to keep Ehlena away and I salute his efforts but knew better. Sooner or later he wouldn't be able to resist because no matter what - the heart wants what the heart wants. Despite feeling inadequate. Despite his dangerous lifestyle and mixed heritage, it was inevitable that he would lose his heart to her and I held my breath, crossing my fingers she would be kind. Here is a man that gives everything for those he loves and did I mention .... TORTURED!! Ahhhh... I was in heaven and didn't want this book to end.

Ehlena was a good match for Rehvenge, even though there was a point where I wanted to scream at her. As much as I hated her reaction to things, I understood - she had issues of her own. One thing I loved about her was when it came down to the crunch, she didn't shrink back. She came forward and was strong, showing she was worthy of a male like Rehvenge. I loved watching their relationship develop and how they both battled their own insecurities.

One of the things I love most about J.R Wards writing is each book doesn't just follow one couple until the end. She weaves different story lines into the mix so you feel like you get so much more. I really enjoyed seeing more of Wrathh and Beth, and reading the vulnerability that came with Wrathh. Good gosh, the man is glorious and watching his pride take hit after hit, but him rising to overcome it, made me swoon! There were points through the story where I wanted to cry with him, I could feel how much he was struggling and how much he hated the consequences to his actions. Beth is a mighty shellan and I loved how she continues to compliment his strength with her own. Great storyline!

There was nothing I didn't like about this book. I really liked the emotion I found while reading and the different twists and turns the stories took. It wasn't hard to imagine each scene or to become thoroughly engrosses with what was happening. It's fast paced and addictive and I'd definitely encouraged others to start this series! Happy reading!!
Harm no human...

A hired gunslinger, William Jessup Brady lived his life with one foot in the grave. He believed that every life had a price. Until the day when he finally found a reason to live. In one single act of brutal betrayal, he lost everything, including his life. Brought back by a Greek goddess to be one of her Dark-Hunters, he gave his immortal soul for vengeance and swore he’d spend eternity protecting the humans he’d once considered prey.

Orphaned as a toddler, Abigail Yager was taken in by a family of vampires and raised on one belief- Dark-Hunters are the evil who prey on both their people and mankind, and they must all be destroyed. While protecting her adoptive race, she has spent her life eliminating the Dark-Hunters and training for the day when she meets the man who killed her family: Jess Brady.

A gun in the hand is worth two in the holster...

Jess has been charged with finding and terminating the creature who’s assassinating Dark-Hunters. The last thing he expects to find is a human face behind the killings, but when that face bears a striking resemblance to the one who murdered him centuries ago, he knows something evil is going on. He also knows he’s not the one who killed her parents. But Abigail refuses to believe the truth and is determined to see him dead once and for all.
Brought together by an angry god and chased by ancient enemies out to kill them both, they must find a way to overcome their mutual hatred or watch as one of the darkest of powers rises and kills both the races they’ve sworn to protect.

I've avoided writing this review for a fews days because I know as I write, it will include a word I NEVER thought I'd link with my beloved Dark Hunters ..... LACKING. Tears seriously fill my eyes just typing it but if I'm to be honest, as excited as I was by this release, I was left feeling like one of the fundamental things I adore most about this series was missing - passion.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVED the storyline for this book. I really enjoyed looking at the Native American aspect of it and thought it brought a very unique flavor to the series. I loved looking at a different pantheon and seeing how it affects the world. I loved how Jess and Abigail's life has been in constant contact through their different lives and how they're continually brought together. But when I think soul mates and destined partners, I expect passion and explosion. When I think Dark Hunter, I think a sexuality that oozes off the page and scenes that threaten to reduce my book and me, to ashes.

I remember when I first began reading the series feeling scandalized. There was so much heat and chemistry between the couples that I would devour the book, ALWAYS left craving more. It's what caused me to drive 2.5 hours one day to buy the ENTIRE series because I couldn't stand to wait. I didn't devour Retribution. Gosh I wanted to but there was a definite shift for me - from steamy paranormal romance to urban fantasy. That's what this book felt like... the story focused on the plot and very little on the romance. I love urban fantasy, don't get me wrong BUT it's not what I expect from my Dark Hunters. I'm not sure why there's a shift, maybe the author felt the storyline was so fantastic (it was) that she focused on that but it still could've provided the sizzle. It made me miss the old days, the earlier books and had me reaching for Acheron. Now there was a book I devoured and couldn't put down.

I really did enjoy the book but felt the characters didn't cement themselves in my heart and leave me connected. Oh gosh, you have no idea how much that pains me to write. I NEVER thought I'd write a review for the Dark Hunters where I didn't spend paragraph after paragraph gushing about the hero. I thought Jess was wonderful and he definitely had some appeal and I'm glad he got the girl. It's almost like I've finished the book and wanted to ask "Okay, this was a good appetizer, where's Jess's book?" There was no smolder and even though I liked the humor, I wanted smolder, swagger and that "OMGSH I don't know how the heroine can stand to be around him without ripping his clothes off." The earlier books have it, the "grab hold of your heart and keep it hostage" feeling. This one sadly didn't.

Okay, I think I'm going to end my review here because it hurts. I'm really hoping this was an off book and that the next release with knock my socks off. It happens, right? I'll stress one more time though... if you like urban fantasy... you will LOVE this book. I loved it but the romance junkie in me wants to weep. I'll still be giddy and bouncing around like a chihuahua on crack when the next book is released and eager to dive in. Until then, I'm off to reread the series! Happy reading!!
J.R. Ward
Paranormal Romance

Butch O'Neal is a fighter by nature. A hard-living ex-homicide cop, he's the only human ever to be allowed in the inner circle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And he wants to go even deeper into the vampire world-to engage in the turf war with the lessers. His heart belongs to a female vampire, Marissa, an aristocratic beauty who's way out of his league. And if he can't have her, then at least he can fight side by side with the Brothers.

But fate curses him with the very thing he wants. When Butch sacrifices himself to save a civilian vampire from the slayers, he falls prey to the darkest force in the war. Left for dead, he's found by a miracle, and the Brotherhood calls on Marissa to bring him back, though even her love may not be enough to save him.

I so wasn't sure about reading this. I absolutely adored the first three books in this series and when I saw this was Butch's story, I was hesitant. I found myself wondering - how could a "human" possibly beat anything the Brotherhood could deliver? Let me just say ... I'm not afraid to smack my head against the wall moaning, "Why were you so scared? WHY did it take you so long to read this amazing story?" Where I thought the series should end with Zsadist because he satisfied all my cravings, Butch delivered such an emotional read and yes, he may just be my favorite.

I don't know what it is about these books that just suck me in. Maybe its the uber Alpha males who are equally tortured in their own ways or the women that drive them to their knees. Maybe its the way the fight evil with a single mindedness, never worried about themselves as they throw themselves into danger. Maybe its the evil that is so profoundly evil and disturbing, that you can't put the book down until it's vanquished. Maybe it's the emotion that I feed on, like a junkie, because there is ALOT of it. With the different story lines weaving in and out, there's quite a bit happening but the author does a remarkable job and making sure it all ties in, leaving you wanting more.

I don't know where to begin... this book truly took me by surprise. There was the relationship between Butch and Marissa - the longing they had for one another and they way they worked around their differences. They were definitely opposites but they fit together beautifully, as if they were made for each other. Here is the rough man, who's coarse and constantly surrounded by danger but he's so incredibly gentle with Marissa, the aristocrat who steals his heart. The things he whispers to her melted me, the amazing love he felt had me swooning. Who would've thought this man had it in him? NEVER underestimate a human in a paranormal romance because when you do, you miss out on men like Butch. My heart broke for him when he felt he needed to keep away, how tortured he must have felt thinking he wasn't enough and I cried when he risked it all. Even though I understood Marissa's fears, I wanted to shake her at walking away from his sacrifice, at her not seeing into his heart and realizing - what other choice did Butch have? Love him, hold on to, cherish him all the days you have together. Yep, Butch really won me over and even though he was full of flaws, he was perfect and I would've been his shellan in a heartbeat!

There was sooo much going on in this book. My heart bled for John as he continues to struggle with the death of Wellsie and disappearance of Tohr. So much pain and anguish in such a small person. All that rage and fury with nowhere to go but out. I LOVED the way the Brotherhood was there for him and how Wrath especially, reached out and made a difference. Even Zsadist was amazing and it made me love them all more. Vishous .... my gosh .... this was the other part of the storyline that just ripped my heart out and stomped all over it. That poor man and what can I do to ease him! I loved that the author didn't drown me in his story but gave me enough to know his turn will be spectacular. There's so much going on there and I can't wait to see how it unfolds.

I'm so glad I started reading the series again. If you'd all have seen me, I was sighing and pausing through the whole book, up to all hours of the night reading because I couldn't put it down. It was like an addiction and I couldn't get enough. Even when my Kindle started acting up, a sign to go to bed, I pulled it up on my phone and kept reading. Amazing book.... amazing characters. If you haven't read this series, I highly recommend it. It's full of the good stuff - swoon, action, humor and sexy males just dying to melt your hearts! Happy reading!
#22, Carpathian series
Paranormal Romance

As brutal as the undead he hunted, Zacarias De La Cruz was a master executioner. Over the long, dark centuries, he plunged into so many battles they blurred into an endless lifetime of evil that hardened the soul of this merciless, ruthless and implacable dark predator.

Now his stark and savage journey is over. After a thousand years in a grey world, he has accomplished everything he set out to do. His brothers are safeguarded. Each has found a woman who completes them. And they are at peace. For his brothers, Zacarias has walked the edge of madness, but with centuries as a killing machine now left to the past and without a hunt to define him, Zacarias wonders, for the first time in his life, who he really is.

The answer awaits him back home in Peru, in the betrayal of a woman who is readying her trap, in the vengeance of an old enemy, in the inevitable consequences of a bloody family legacy, and in the deliverance of a lifemate he never could have imagined.

Heaven help me but I need assistance with this review because 30 minutes after finishing this book, I'm STILL in full HARD swoon mode. I feel like I've run an emotional marathon, my eyes are still teary and my heart feels like it's ready to explode. Holy heck! I was worried going into this story. Zacarias has always given off the dangerous vibe and I was terrified that this would be an epic fail. He is so intense and what I got was epic swoon instead! He has to be one of the most TORTURED characters I've read in a very long time, my heart instantly connecting him and I seriously didn't think I'd survive the book. Even now, I feel the need to cry because I feel like my heart was ripped out of my chest for the last 5 hours and held hostage. Amazing story and definitely my FAVORITE in the entire series.

How do you even describe Dark Predator? Zacarias has come to the end. He knows it, embraces it and letting go of the burden of responsibility he's carried for centuries, he seeks an honorable death and no one will keep him from it. Used to being obeyed in all things, he doesn't foresee one problem in his plans - Marguarita, a woman whose life he once saved and who now lives on one of his ranches. Raised from birth with the strictest of commands to ALWAYS obey the De La Cruz brothers, she defies all sense of survival and logic, and saves Zacarias from death. This opens her up to his wrath and a lesson she will never forget. Unknown to him though, the greater lesson is for him as he discovers he isn't as lost as he thought was and no darkness is safe for the light and love of a lifemate.

While I will admit that the wordiness of the story was a lot in places, it still didn't detract from the powerful punch the relationship between Zacarias and Marguarita had. The things they said to each other, the way she balanced and accepted him, the way he felt he was completely unworthy of her, made my heart beat and twist over and over. The way he burned for her, needed her was intense and I think a lesser woman would've been terrifying. All I can say is god bless Marguarita for having the courage to look deep into Zacarias and not be put off by the darkness inside him. For being able to love him despite himself and being brave enough to stand up to him. I loved his term of endearment for her, it made me laugh and it was very telling that she didn't take offense by it. She had a great sense of humor, gentleness and fire about her and I really appreciated her.

Zacarias, how could I possibly explain how wonderful I thought he was. There's definitely something to be said for letting the reader deep into the mind of the hero, especially one full of flaws. He is SOOOOO tortured, and it made me giddy as I devoured everything about him. To be so alone, to feel so completely void of everything that you just want it to end, it broke my heart. It hurt that it seemed at every turn he was trying to show Marguarita just how unworthy he was of her, and how he believed if she truly saw him, she'd flee. The idea of her leaving terrified him, which was amazing to read because in the beginning he was so dang convinced she'd placed a spell on him. He had no idea why he was feeling what he was, the compulsion he had to be near her and the incessant craving he had. Watching him soften toward her, banter and laugh made me sob because these were things he never thought possible and it was his reactions that made this an epic read for me. To watch him stumble, make mistakes made him incredible and I loved when he told her "Tell me when I hurt you or do something wrong. I'll only ever make that mistake once" (I kinda paraphrased LOL) Here was a man not used to emotions but once she returned it to him, he just couldn't get enough and there were times he thought he'd go crazy from it. I can't gush enough about him ... he's completely stolen my heart. HARD swoon!!! No, make that UBER hard swoon!!!

This is definitely my favorite of the entire series. Where ZacariasZacarias was the epitome of all things delicious and THANK YOU for doing him justice Christine!! I definitely recommend this book to everyone. I know after 22 books, some may feel the series gets repetitive, but don't let that stop you from enjoying an amazing book! Come on, it's Zacarias .... happy reading!
Georgina Kincaid series #6
Paranormal Romance

In Georgina Kincaid, succubus and she-demon, #1 New York Times bestselling author Richelle Mead has created one of her most enticing characters. But with a shot at love, and maybe even redemption, is the ultimate seductress finally going soft? Like hell she is. . .

Georgina Kincaid has had an eternity to figure out the opposite sex, but sometimes they still surprise her. Take Seth Mortensen. The man has risked his soul to become Georgina's boyfriend. Still, with Lucifer for a boss, Georgina can't just hang up her killer heels and settle down to domestic bliss. In fact, she's being forced to transfer operations. . .to Las Vegas.

The City of Sin is a dream gig for a succubus, but Georgina's allies are suspicious. Why are the powers-that-be so eager to get her away from Seattle—and from Seth? Georgina is one of Hell's most valuable assets, but if there's any way out of the succubus business she plans to take it—no matter how much roadkill she leaves behind. She just hopes the casualties won't include the one man she's risking everything for. . .

I love reading Richelle Mead and this series has definitely been one I've enjoyed. While I'm sad to see this end, what an amazing way to say goodbye to Georgina! This was a story I had a hard time putting down and thankfully I was on a road trip so I had extended periods of time where I could devour it. There were a few questions left hovering when I opened the book and I loved the way they were all answered. And yes, there was even a "OMGSH NO WAY!!" moment that I didn't see coming.

Poor Georgina has gone through so much and finally has the man she loves, Seth. There's some tough conditions to being together, especially with her being a succubus, but rationing out sex is worth it because she's finally happy. That is until her world falls apart with the sudden and very much a surprise transfer slip that's delivered. With no explanation, she must leave behind everyone and move on to Las Vegas and it breaks her heart knowing that Seth may not be able to follow. Luckily, Roman smells a conspiracy and for the rest of the book, the truth slowly unfolds - the lies, secret agendas and colossal mistake by Hell. The storyline really sucks you in as you hope and pray Georgina comes out on top. You want her to win, to keep Seth and to have the happily ever after!

One thing I noticed was this book was really light on the sex part, her role as an active succubus pushed aside to focus on the conspiracy part of the story. Even the "creative" ways she's intimate with Seth are light and I'll admit, I missed that element. Being a sexual being, her nature was pushed aside for a more angsty one but it made sense with everything she was going through. I just would've liked to see more.

There were definitely some goose bump and tear inducing moments through the book - things about Carter being revealed and his role in everything, the willingness to sacrifice everything for Georgina happiness by Roman and the pain of betrayal felt by Seth. Yeah, that shocked the heck out of me but man it was powerful to read as it unfolded. I couldn't imagine what it must have felt like to go through and my heart broke for him!

All in all, it was a great way to finish the series and makes it a definite must read. I was left feeling satisfied and ready to move on to something new. Thank goodness the author has a new series started I can dive into! Happy reading!
Jamie has it all, looks, brains, and a charming personality. But in this romance cover model’s world, those blessings become a curse when a colleague blurs the line between reality and fantasy. Will women only see him for his looks and never look below the surface to the man beneath?

Hope had a dream job, working with sexy, hot photographs, turning authors’ dreams into reality. When laid off from her publisher as a cover artist she must find her namesake in life again…some kind of hope for her future. Can a birthday wish give her what she truly desires? They say be careful what you wish for.

Destiny seems to bring Jamie and Hope what they need, each other. But a dangerous obstacle stands in their way as obsession turns deadly. Can Jamie trust in Hope’s grounded nature? Is Hope strong enough to live in Jamie’s world? Or will reality intrude on their fantasy of being together?
That pretty much sums up the entire book.... FULL OF SWOON! I absolutely adored, loved, heavy sighed and couldn't get enough of this story. I was so excited to hear Deena Remiel was releasing a new story and found it SO hard to put down! I love stories where they pull you easily in and hold on tight. They have you right there, watching the characters and feeling right along side with them. What also made this an incredible read for me is knowing Jimmy Thomas was the muse behind Jamie, the sexy cover model, looking for love but never knowing if he can find it. I've met Jimmy so picturing him was PERFECT (yep, I went there) and brought it to life for me. Even now, I'm sitting here sighing!

Picture Perfect tells the story of Jamie and Hope, two people who've been hurt by love and find it hard to trust the intentions of others. Both are in the same field, and poor Jamie finds himself having a difficult time finding a meaningful relationship. While people see his outer beauty, they either want him for his looks or succumb to jealously when they see the beautiful photos he creates. He has so much to offer the right woman, the trouble is - how does he find her?

Hope is alone and after an accident on the beach, stumbles across Jamie. His gentleman manners and concern for her, touch her heart and she honestly has to ask whether he's too good to be true. There's an instant connection and the chemistry between them is swoonworthy. Everything looks set for them to explore a relationship but a threat arises, challenging the newness of their affection.

Jamie ... Jimmy... Jamie. Huge sucker for this character! HUGE! I loved everything about him, the insecurities, tenderness, consideration and definitely - the incredible sex appeal. There's something to be said about reading a book where you've met the muse. Jamie really came alive for me and became personal. I loved the way he treated Hope, giving that quiet assurance there ARE wonderful men out there. I felt so bad for him - to have to constantly wonder the intentions of others. Do they like him for who he truly is or because of what he can offer? It must've been so lonely for him so if Jamie couldn't have me (LOL) I'm glad he found Hope *insert sigh here* Amazing!

Have I said how much I love this story?? This author truly is a favorite of mine because the interactions she created between Jamie and Hope were perfect. They're the kinds of things you wish the person you love would whisper to you. You sit reading, and you find yourself leaning in close. Kisses are shared and you can almost feel it on your own lips. This has become one of the books I turn to when I need something that feels good and helps lift my reading funk. It's the perfect book to snuggle under the covers with and lose yourself in! Happy reading!
THREE UNREPENTANT SCOUNDRELS INFAMOUS FOR BEING MAD, BAD AND PERILOUS TO LOVE

Charming, wealthy and wickedly handsome, Oliver “Beau” Blackthorn has it all…except revenge on the enemy he can’t forget. Now the opportunity for retribution has fallen into his hands. But his success hinges on Lady Chelsea Mills-Beckman—the one woman with the power to distract him from his quest.

Desperate to escape her family’s control, Lady Chelsea seizes the chance to run off with the notorious eldest Blackthorn brother, knowing she’s only a pawn in his game. But as Beau draws her deep into a world of intrigue, danger and explosive passion, does she dare hope he’ll choose love over vengeance?

What I thought:

Okay...I don’t like to dwell on the negative so I will get this out of the way first. I don’t like this book cover. It does nothing to represent the wonderful characters in the story. Being a reader who is very cover oriented I just had to put that out there. However, I’m also very title oriented too and I happen to love The Taming of the Shrew, so this title definitely caught my eye. (I do like the title font on the cover though! Very pretty!)

Now as much as I loved the title, I did find it to be misleading. Beau was not a rake by any stretch of the imagination, though I found him to be quite an enjoyable character. Okay, yeah...I thought he was hot—all tall, tan, and muscular with his blond sun-streaked hair, and a nice guy to boot. Not to mention he was completely loaded...as in richer than most of the ton. And of course he can kiss like the devil, so what’s not to love? Beau was born into less-than-favorable circumstances, in his opinion, and has spent his life trying to “change his colors” so he can be accepted into society. I personally would have ditched the rest of society and gone with him. He was certainly the better choice.

The heroine, Chelsea, was bold, demanding, and opinionated and I liked her. She didn’t like the hand life was dealing her so she set out to change it and make it her own. I found her outspoken ways to be humorous and unexpected. I loved that she didn’t beat around the bush. If she had something to say, she said it. If she had something to do, she did it. And that was that. No weeping, weak, woe-is-me type girl here! Yay for that!

I also enjoyed the character chemistry. Because of the way they storyline developed you knew the characters were headed for marriage from the beginning of the book. But it was nice to see a marriage of convenience start turning to love—especially when one party involved has sworn off love for good. But that wonderful sneaky love always manages to creep its way in somehow! (Happy sigh...)

The story was fast paced and kept my interest easily, though it may have slowed slightly at the end. Nothing bad by any means, it just seemed to drag a little for me there for some reason. Perhaps because the big build up that everything was leading to changed and went off in a different direction. Once again...not bad, just different from what I expected.

There were a couple of extra subplots as well that helped add to the story and set things up for future books that will feature Beau’s two brothers, Puck, and Jack. I will definitely be watching for their stories because this one was a lot of fun!

Contemporary Romance

“The Trove of the Passion Room is not simply a story. Nor is it only a fable, a legend or mere nonsensical superstition. It exists. There is a trove hidden in The Passion Room…a trove that has never before in its fullness been found—for it is hidden by the spell of passion that lingers within the room itself. The passion inspired of the room cannot be denied. It cannot be controlled or resisted. And as the influence of The Passion Room cannot be evaded, neither can the trove be revealed without absolute and consummate surrender to...” She paused as her eyes widened. “What?” she breathed. “No way!”

Can I just say this.... Marcia has always dazzled me with how swoony and delicious her men are and the kisses that make my knees melt. I went into this book expecting the same and was left with the following statement: "HOT DAMN!" I really feel that she has FAR outdone herself with this book. She's gone from swoony to SEXY swoony and it wasn't just my knees that were melting. Not only was Sharlamagne endearing but Maxim was compeltely edible and OOZED sexuality. I really feel she turned the sex appeal up HIGH in this book, going WAY beyond anyhing she's written which makes me chuckle because lovely Shar had THE hardest time saying the blushworthy "s" word.

I absolutely ADORED the pairing of these two characters. They were AH-MAZING and such a perfect fit. The sexual tension and chemistry between them built so well and when it exploded between them, it threatened to set my Kindle on fire. I was in a constant state of swooning and fanning myself, smiling like a giddy school girl with a crush, all the while getting that rush of excitement I crave when reading romance. Did I mention that Marcia ROCKED the romance in this story? I seriously feel like a junkie now, shaking for my next fix and having no clue when it's coming. It's hard to type this while I'm still clutching my chest, sighing dramatically.

When I first saw the cover, I immediately thought "YAY, Marcia's released another historical!" I started thinking about how much I loved Shackles of Honor and The Highwayman of Tanglewood so I was giddy to start. I'll admit, I was a little disappointed when I saw it was a contemporary. But I've learned to never doubt this trusted author to deliver so I pushed on and LOVED the story that developed.

Sharlamagne is the daughter of an antiques dealer and as a result, loves all things historical, delighting in finding treasures and cherishing the past. The story opens with her at a antiques show and meeting with her beloved friend, who has a surprise guest with her. Blown away with how handsome he is, Maxim impresses both Shar and her sister, Gwen and they promptly put him on the list of guys they want. Unfortunately, tragedy strikes, bringing Shar and Maxim together years later and this is where it becomes magical. What seemed to be a friendship of convenience becomes one of need and heartfelt longing, and the attraction between them builds to a fevered pitch *insert swoon*

Sorting through antique treasures, there's a room in the home Maxim inherits called the Passion Room that holds a very serious warning: Beware all who enter and spend time because whether it's attraction, lust or a soul abiding love, people are pulled together where their passions ignite. Joking around about it, Maxin and Shar enter and HOLY FREAKN' COW! I would GLADLY have exchanged spots. From that moment on, things become intense and I enjoyed being lead to the very end where I was completely satisfied and happy.

There are so many wonderful moments in this story. Ones where I quickly highlighted on my Kindle for future use and some where I had to immediately share them with my BFF. I ADORED the scene where Maxim takes Shar to the dance where they experienced their first kiss. It was hard to read because I kept wanting to close my eyes and savor it, tracing my own lips as I imagined it. Yep, I might have looked like a fool to those around me but my gosh it was SO GOOD!I loved the little touches Marcia added to the story, the quirks and traits that she gave the characters that made them instantly likable. You wanted Maxim and Shar to get together, begged for it, willed it and whooped out loud when things went well. It really was an interactive read for me LOL I'm a sucker for the banter that happens between love interests and I was in HEAVEN with this story. The texting was funny and swoony all at once, and it was probably one of my favorite scenes in the entire book.

I honestly can't gush enough. There were a few things I had a hard time with (editing stuff) but once I was swept up in the romance of the story, it was all I could focus on and I didn't care. I couldn't put the book down until it was over. It met every one of my romance loving needs and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. Happy reading everyone!

Official Blurb:

A bargain that was all business . . . and pure passion.

Neither wealth nor beauty will help Lady Francesca Gordon win custody of her young niece Georgina, saving the girl from a cruel stepmother; she needs London’s top solicitor for that. But when Edward de Lacey, son of the powerful Duke of Durham, hires away the one man who can do the job, Francesca decides Edward himself must champion her case . . . if only she can melt the dashing lord’s stony heart.

Edward has reason to be guarded, though. London’s tabloids have just exposed a secret that could ruin his entire family. When Francesca offers a unique chance to undo the damage, Edward is forced to agree to a partnership . . . and now, each moment together feeds the flames of his scandalous longing for the passionate widow. But when Georgina disappears, fate will test them both . . . and leave their love hanging in the balance.

What I thought:

*I received this book from Netgalley for review.

I love historical romances and I will say this book captured me straight away when a down on her luck Francesca finds her much needed solicitor ripped from her grasp by a wealthy family. Instead of sulking she finds out who the mystery client is and barges in to demand his help.

Edward De Lacey has no hope of thwarting the young widow. He’s attracted by her almost immediately, but does everything possible to bury those feelings, especially since he’s just been thrown over by his fiancée who he thought himself love with. But fate continues to throw them together and Edward does the unthinkable. When he has the chance to finally be rid of her...he keeps orchestrating their meetings together. They two continue on their search and soon find there is loads of chemistry between them.

My favorite line in the book comes from Edward when he say he thought he had everything he wanted, only to discover he was missing what he really needed. (Insert deep swoon here.)

I was exactly halfway through this book before there was any “coming together” of the characters, but once they came together there was hardly any separating of them! I have a thing for hot make out sessions up against the wall and let me tell you the one in this book was SMOKING! Once these two ignited they burned like a fire out of control.

The ending of the story had an unexpected twist which was nice, and the light mystery thread through the book continues on into the books to follow. I have to say I pretty much enjoyed every second of this and look forward to reading the rest of them!

Blurb:

I’m Juliet.
At least, I wanted to be.
So I did something stupid to make it happen.
Well, stupid and wonderful.

I wanted the role of Juliet more than anything. I studied hard. I gave a great reading for it—even with Bobby checking me out the whole time. I deserved the part.

I didn’t get it. So I decided to level the playing field, though I actually might have leveled the whole play. You see, since there aren’t any Success in Getting to Be Juliet in Your High School Play spells, I thought I’d cast the next best—a Fame spell. Good idea, right?

Yeah. Instead of bringing me a little fame, it brought me someone a little famous. Shakespeare. Well, Edmund Shakespeare. William’s younger brother.

Good thing he’s sweet and enthusiastic about helping me with the play...and—ahem—maybe a little bit hot. But he’s from the past. Way past. Cars amaze him—cars! And cell phones? Ugh.

Still, there’s something about him that’s making my eyes go star-crossed....

Will Romeo steal her heart before time steals him away?

What I thought:

I found this story on NetGalley and I have to say the title was what caught my eye on this book, which is saying something since I’m not ashamed to admit I’m a cover girl. I read the blurb for this story and thought it sounded really good.

I found this book to be entertaining for the most part—a nice escape from reality for a leisurely time of reading. There were some pacing issues that irritated me a couple of times, place where some things needed more explanation and others that had too much. I tried to just brush through these parts and accept them as they were written, even if at time the character reactions seemed a bit odd for what was going on around them.

Overall I liked the characters and felt each suited their role appropriately in the story. It was a little disheartening to see the lead male in the story, Edmund, waste most of his time involved in pursuits with another girl, thus making his time with Miranda, a.k.a. Juliet, rushed and anticlimactic.

The ending of the book fit the style of the story, but was way too hurried for my taste. It was like the reader had been going along with all of this big build up, only to have it be over in the blink of an eye. I wish there could have been some more tender moments in there.

I loved the parts of the story surrounding the putting on of the play, and I loved how everyone came together to make it this awesome event for the community. That part of the book seemed magical to me, and for a moment I felt I was part of the audience enjoying a riveting show.

This story was at the very least entertaining and I enjoyed myself while I read it.

Blurb:

To save the life of the boy she loves, Jacinda did the unthinkable: She betrayed the most closely-guarded secret of her kind. Now she must return to the protection of her pride knowing she might never see Will again—and worse, that because his mind has been shaded, Will’s memories of that fateful night and why she had to flee are gone.

Back home, Jacinda is greeted with hostility and must work to prove her loyalty for both her sake and her family’s. Among the few who will even talk to her are Cassian, the pride’s heir apparent who has always wanted her, and her sister, Tamra, who has been forever changed by a twist of fate. Jacinda knows that she should forget Will and move on—that if he managed to remember and keep his promise to find her, it would only endanger them both. Yet she clings to the hope that someday they will be together again. When the chance arrives to follow her heart, will she risk everything for love?

In bestselling author Sophie Jordan’s dramatic follow-up to Firelight, forbidden love burns brighter than ever.

What I thought:

I loved book one in this series, Firelight, and so I was very excited to have the opportunity to review the second one from NetGalley. I admit I was a little afraid to read it, since I knew from the end of the previous story that my favorite characters, Will and Jacinda, were going to be separated.

True to that ending the book began with Jacinda being forced back into her dragon pride, one she hadn’t been anxious to escape before, but now has no desire to go back to. Life is hard enough for her as she tries to assimilate back into life with her peers after being branded as a trouble maker by them, not to mention that her heart is breaking after being seperated from the love of her life.

Enter Cassian, the tall, dark, brooding draki that has long intended to be bonded with Jacinda. I, much like Jacinda, never cared much for him since it was common knowledge that he was only after Jacinda’s more desirable fire breathing traits and adding her to his families bloodline. Well, leave it Sophie Jordan to go and blow all those theories out of the water as she peals back the layers to reveal Cassian and the true emotions that lie beneath his surface.

Jacinda fights falling under his spell in her attempt to remain loyal to her Will, whom she loves so much. But she is lonely too, and finds herself struggling to keep from crumbling. I have to say there were some HOT things going on in this part of the book. Of course, just about the time I was starting to cheer for Cassian, you guessed it...Will showed up...and I spent the rest of this book being one conflicted mess after another. ACK!! I love them both, and they both love her!! What is it with these authors and their twisted love triangles?

I devoured this book, my heart pounding, twisted, wrenched and bleeding. Sacrifices we made, bonds strengthened, threats made, friendships lost, betrayals happened, and I was completely torn in two by the end. There was never a dull moment as this story progressed, taking me on the emotional journey with it.

Now I sit here, wondering desperately when the next book will be out and I have to remind myself that this one hasn’t been release yet! I will definitely be in line for the next book in this awesome YA fantasy series.

Sorcha’s husband is easily the meanest cur alive. He blamed her for every misfortune that befell his clan since he took her to wife four years past. And now the bastard is determined to kill her. If she were half the witch he accused her of being, then she might possess the power to save herself, but Da had ousted her grandmum from the clan before she taught Sorcha the Pagan ways. She is certain of only one thing—if she lives long enough to become a widow, she will never take another husband.

Keiran, the Falconer of Barra, knew he and Sorcha were worlds apart in station—he, the son of a crofter, and she, the eldest daughter of the chieftain—but he’d spent the past seven years of his life trying to change his stars. Everything he’d done had been for her. He’d fought and killed for the clan and learned the Pagan ways, for her. And now that he’d saved her life and took her pain away, the foolish wench accused him of doing it all for the chieftainship.

Will Keiran’s gentle touch crush the last of her resistance? Or will Sorcha’s husband hunt her down and kill her before she discovers the depth of Keiran’s love?
I'm not sure what made me swoon more - the story or the cover? Don't you just love the tagline "He healed her body... but he wanted her heart." *insert sigh* It pretty sums up this short story from Kimberly Killion. I had a chance to meet the author at RomCon so when I found this on my Kindle, I couldn't resist. Also, does the guy look familiar? Think Belinda "manwich" Yep, Brooks Johnson is the cover model and he makes for a gorgeous cover!

Anyway, back to the story. I'm really starting to become a fan of the short story where the author hits you over the head with a little drama, a little action and a great big serving of swoony romance. I enjoyed His Magick Touch with the idea that Keiran had loved Sorcha all this time and that everything he had done was for her. Talk about unswerving devotion! To be loved that way just makes me tingle. Here is a man that steps up and does whatever it takes, who has an amazing heart and you can't help but hold your breath as you wait to see whether he gets the girl.

Sorcha... poor, poor girl. The openings scenes made me cringe a little over how hard her life must have been married to her heartless swine of a husband. Accused of being a witch and cursing him, he wants to be done with her and my stomach dipped as he tried to kill her. Of course, this opened the story up for the dashing hero to come to her rescue, and heal her. I loved that Keiran didn't just smother her but he realized she may need a little time. He was constant and consistent. I did feel frustrated for him when Sorcha didn't immediately see his intentions, believing him to only want the clan leadership but *insert another sigh* I got my happily ever after!

This was a quick read but definitely a great way to get a feel for the writing style of the author. The story was smoothly written with all the right elements to appeal to romance readers. This is definitely a story I wouldn't have minded seeing as a full length novel but it has me eyeing one of the books I got from RomCon from the author. Also for 99c, this is a bargain. Happy reading everyone!
Sherrilyn Kenyon
Paranormal Romance

Zarek's Point of View:

Dark-Hunter: A soulless guardian who stands between mankind and those who would see mankind destroyed. Yeah, right. The only part of that Code of Honor I got was eternity and solitude.

Insanity: A condition many say I suffer from after being alone for so long. But I don't suffer from my insanity-I enjoy every minute of it.

Trust: I can't trust anyone...not even myself. The only thing I trust in is my ability to do the wrong thing in any situation and to hurt anyone who gets in my way.

Truth: I endured a lifetime as a Roman slave, and 900 years as an exiled Dark-Hunter. Now I'm tired of enduring. I want the truth about what happened the night I was exiled-I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Astrid (Greek, meaning star): An exceptional woman who can see straight to the truth. Brave and strong, she is a point of light in the darkness. She touches me and I tremble. She smiles and my cold heart shatters.
Zarek: They say even the most damned man can be forgiven. I never believed that until the night Astrid opened her door to me and made this feral beast want to be human again. Made me want to love and be loved. But how can an ex-slave whose soul is owned by a Greek goddess ever dream of touching, let alone holding, a fiery star?

Gosh, I'm so close to sobbing I'm practically a basket case. It's been a while since I've read Zarek's story and it packed just as powerful a punch as it did the first one. Wow. Sherrilyn truly is the Queen of Tortured Heroes. Everything about Zarek made my heart bleed and wish desperately for a happy ever after for him. This was such a gut wrenching story that I had to stop quite a few times just so I could remember to breathe.

I love the Dark Hunters. There's something about them that just revs my romance loving heart. They are unbelievably sexy and powerful, their sex appeal literally oozes off the pages. I've always been a sucker for the REALLY bad bad boy and you can't get much worse than Zarek. I'd say the man has a death wish but you'd have to actually care and he is so beyond it, it's almost a little scary. The nurturer in me BEGS for a way to save him and it took an amazing woman with unfathomable courage to reach in and touch him. Good gosh, I can feel the tears starting to fall!

I can't even begin to imagine how horrific it was growing up the way Zarek did, to wish for death and wake up each morning being denied the peace it would bring. Where all others saw was a sociopath in need of a serious putting down, thank heavens for Acheron who KNEW Zarek's heart and believed in him. Makes me love that man even more *insert sigh* It was never that Zarek didn't want to be friendly and reach out, he just didn't know how and each time he did, he became vulnerable and it was open season on him. People can be cruel, vicious even and what they don't understand, they reject. It would take a special person to FIGHT to get beyond the extremely toxic barriers Zarek had put up over the centuries but Astrid was the woman. My giddy romantic heart wants to sing praises for the woman the kept looking, searching for that small glimmer of hope and who held on tight when she found it. *insert another sigh and wipes away a stray tear*

This book was an emotional goldmine for me because it had me cheering for the underdog, touched deeply by the struggles he had overcome and for the unbelievable risk Zarek took by letting Astrid into his heart. Loving someone is easy, it's accepting it... owning it... putting your heart in the other's hands that's difficult and I LOVED watching his transformation. Seriously, I'm a gooey mess here because this is why I LOVE reading romance. To win against all the odds. It's beautiful.

I say, you'd be crazy not to read Dance With The Devil.... to not read any of the Dark Hunters series. Sherrilyn really does have a gift for writing sexy tortured heroes and I'm looking forward to devouring each book! She writes an amazing story, with a plot that's thick with action and humor. Gotta love the snarkiness but most of all... I love the chemistry and the tension as the characters do the "I want so bad... I need so bad but I'm not good for them" dance. I love watching the stubbornness wash away and seeing the passion between them. Definitely sizzling in places and that's just how I like my Dark Hunters! Happy reading!
