#7 in Black Dagger Brotherhood series
J.R. Ward
Paranormal Romance
Now, as the vampire warriors defend their race against their slayers, one male's loyalty to the Brotherhood will be tested-and his dangerous mixed blood revealed...
Caldwell, New York, has long been the battleground for the vampires and their enemies, the Lessening Society. It's also where Rehvenge has staked out his turf as a drug lord and owner of a notorious night club that caters to the rich and heavily armed. His shadowy reputation is exactly why he's approached to kill Wrath, the Blind King and leader of the Brotherhood.
Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood-even though his sister is married to a member, for he harbors a deadly secret that could make him a huge liability in their war against the lessers. As plots within and outside of the Brotherhood threaten to reveal the truth about Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in his darkening world, Ehlena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him-and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction.
O.M.G.S.H - I am on tortured overload. LOVED this book! Is it just me but as the series progresses, each Brother is more tortured and delicious than the previous one. This was actually the first book I ever read by the author, years ago, but time has definitely been kind because I couldn 't get enough of this!
Where to even started.... Rehvenge. That man made my heart bleed. Talk about first impressions. He would be the man I'd cross the street and hide behind something because I'd be scared. Scared he'd eat me and scared he'd see me drooling! I can only imagine the kind of power that drips off him and how deadly he'd feel. But all it takes is one woman... the right woman and even the hardest of men crumble. Rehvenge had so many flaws, so many reasons to keep Ehlena away and I salute his efforts but knew better. Sooner or later he wouldn't be able to resist because no matter what - the heart wants what the heart wants. Despite feeling inadequate. Despite his dangerous lifestyle and mixed heritage, it was inevitable that he would lose his heart to her and I held my breath, crossing my fingers she would be kind. Here is a man that gives everything for those he loves and did I mention .... TORTURED!! Ahhhh... I was in heaven and didn't want this book to end.
Ehlena was a good match for Rehvenge, even though there was a point where I wanted to scream at her. As much as I hated her reaction to things, I understood - she had issues of her own. One thing I loved about her was when it came down to the crunch, she didn't shrink back. She came forward and was strong, showing she was worthy of a male like Rehvenge. I loved watching their relationship develop and how they both battled their own insecurities.
One of the things I love most about J.R Wards writing is each book doesn't just follow one couple until the end. She weaves different story lines into the mix so you feel like you get so much more. I really enjoyed seeing more of Wrathh and Beth, and reading the vulnerability that came with Wrathh. Good gosh, the man is glorious and watching his pride take hit after hit, but him rising to overcome it, made me swoon! There were points through the story where I wanted to cry with him, I could feel how much he was struggling and how much he hated the consequences to his actions. Beth is a mighty shellan and I loved how she continues to compliment his strength with her own. Great storyline!
There was nothing I didn't like about this book. I really liked the emotion I found while reading and the different twists and turns the stories took. It wasn't hard to imagine each scene or to become thoroughly engrosses with what was happening. It's fast paced and addictive and I'd definitely encouraged others to start this series! Happy reading!!

What Kind Of Review Can You Expect?
If I could describe what kind of reader I am, I would hands down say I was an emotional one. When I read I want to fully experience the book, from the emotions coursing through the characters to reacting to the twist and turns of the storyline. I'm looking for those books that fire up my imagination and leave me breathless when it's over. It's for this reason why the reviews I write aren't so much what I think and are more on how I feel. My hopes in sharing my review in this way is that something will spark an interest and have you wanting to have the same experiences. This isn't to say I don't have issues with grammar, word choices etc. Trust me I do and most times all it takes is waiting for the story to grab hold for it not to matter. When I do include things about what I thought about the book (for example I've included comments about word choices and being too descriptive), I only do so because it directly affected how I felt. I hope this helps. Enjoy!
