What Kind Of Review Can You Expect?

If I could describe what kind of reader I am, I would hands down say I was an emotional one. When I read I want to fully experience the book, from the emotions coursing through the characters to reacting to the twist and turns of the storyline. I'm looking for those books that fire up my imagination and leave me breathless when it's over. It's for this reason why the reviews I write aren't so much what I think and are more on how I feel. My hopes in sharing my review in this way is that something will spark an interest and have you wanting to have the same experiences. This isn't to say I don't have issues with grammar, word choices etc. Trust me I do and most times all it takes is waiting for the story to grab hold for it not to matter. When I do include things about what I thought about the book (for example I've included comments about word choices and being too descriptive), I only do so because it directly affected how I felt. I hope this helps. Enjoy!

Fierce Dawn by Amber Scott

Fierce Dawn
Amber Scott
Paranormal Romance

Snarling teeth, glowing eyes. Someone--something--is after her. The man who haunts her dreams enters her reality, claiming she's transforming into a changeling--not quite immortal but no longer human. Battlelines are drawn and blood spills as the two fight not only for her life, but for mankind's as well.

First Line

"Sadie Graces did not have time for this."

A Quick Tease

"Shhh." he said. He kissed her fingers when her hands tried to pull down him closer.
"I'm not going anywhere, love." He laid her hands at her sides. "If I'm going to do the unforgivable, I'm going to make every moment worth my soul."

My Review

My gosh! FIERCE DAWN is yet another reason why I LOVE finding new authors because this was an AMAZING read. I'd finished reading Amber's story in Kissed From Beyond and remembered thinking - "Wow this had such a good feel to it, I can't wait to see what else she's done" I'd received FIERCE DAWN to review for the Blog Tour De Force and jumped straight in, loving the blurb, not even seeing the cover yet (gasp I know - the cover whore had nothing to sway her LOL) I can't remember how many pages I was in before I knew that I was smitten with Elijah and wondering how the heck I could have my husband grow wings. I read for the emotion of the story, to identify well with the characters and with this book - I drowned in it and I felt a strong connection with Sadie. So strong, I felt everything alongside her. This was just the kind of book I devour and crave and I was so glad for the opportunity to review it.

Life has been a living hell for Sadie. Having grown up with a mother who was deemed mentally unstable, she had her own psychotic break that left her feeling smothered and governed over by her baby sister. Her life was not her own and at times, Sadie wanted nothing more than to be normal. Trying to assert her independence, she fights to prove herself to her sister and therapist. But in the midst of it all, things are happening. Things that could prove there's another impending breakdown or that there is something bigger happening, something that explains everything - even her mother. It seems to revolve around her dreams and the gorgeous man she sees at the library where she works. An overwhelming man in black, he is indifferent during the day, but when he visits in her dreams - the erotic sensuality of him and his wings unravels her. Sadie feels she's hanging onto reality by a thread... one false move and everything will crumble.

Elijah has one purpose and one only - find his beloved brother and return everything to normal. He doesn't have time for the human before him... even if she holds the key to his problems. Discovering Sadie, it takes a while for him to be convinced of her value - that she is changing and that he can help her with it. What he doesn't count on is the fierce attraction and lust he feels. Not knowing that it's real, believing it's part of the magnetism of his otherwordly nature, Elijah fights it and with it, creates amazing sexual tension. As situations become more dire and the action around them explosive, will he be able to hold onto his honor and resist the call of the forbidden? Will he be enough to protect Sadie? And will Sadie be able to convince him that the attraction between them is more than just unbridled passion - but love? Hot damn, I was hooked from the beginning!

For me, there's a real fine line when you're reading - you don't want to be bombarded with facts and be given too much of the story too soon. You want to be introduced to it one piece at a time, all the while having romance and sexual tension woven in (I'm a romance reader.. I look for these things) You want to be gently pulled along until you're naturally racing forward and I feel that Amber did this perfectly. She gave me just enough to be curious and have me keep reading and never crossed into the "OMGSH hurry up" I loved the balance and appreciated it because there did come a point where it wasn't Amber leading me through the story with her characters, it was me running yelling "I'll meet you at the finish line" Her style of writing was a joy to read and there were times when I had to stop to catch my breath, to sigh, to giggle and share what I was reading with others. There were parts where I thought "Oh that was just plain delicious" For example, without spoiling anything... Elijah has this line towards the end where he makes the statement *insert paraphrase* "When she was in your arms.. did she whisper my name?"  I was nuts over this and it gave me complete tingles. The chemistry between the characters was well thought out and I loved the heroine and hero - Sadie and Elijah.

I was amazed at how easy and how quickly I bonded with Sadie. Here is a girl that I could totally relate to and empathize with. As soon as I learned about her, I was ready to champion her cause and defend her. Everyone thought she was mentally unstable, and I agree, there was a time when she probably was but as I was introduced to Sadie, she was finally regaining her confidence and ready to try being more independent. I hated that she felt she needed to hide things, that she second guessed herself a lot

*insert swoon* Elijah was and is a STUD! He was so dang stubborn that if it wasn't for the fact I'd probably end up attacking him with kisses, I'd have belted him over the head a few times. This man is determined, focused and committed to his cause and like any alpha male, is totally unhinged by the presence of a woman in his life. Not just any woman though, HIS woman and one that won't take no for an answer. I loved watching him squirm, got annoyed when he would give in and then pull away and completely melted when he finally followed his heart. I loved the power that he exuded, the protectiveness he had and I don't think I'd EVER want to wake up if Elijah was in my dreams. I could see why Sadie fell in love with him - he was completely endearing ... male pride and all. *insert another swoon just for good measure*

This should be a no brainer for those who love to read a good paranormal romance. It's got a great storyline with strong characters - Lyric was totally hot and I found myself having heart flutters over him a few times. You have great romance and heat - be prepared to go all gooey in parts. I loved everything about FIERCE DAWN and I'm excited to see what else Amber Scott has to offer, especially because I heard she'll be writing a story about Lyric next. Heaven help us all because I don't think my hormones can take it. Get yourself a copy of the book and happy reading!
